Tel Aviv University's senate decided to give an honorary doctorate to artist Said Abu Shakra, founder and director of the Umm al-Fahm art museum, for thirty years of cultural work.
He received a similar honour from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design a year ago.
The museum grew from a gallery he founded with his brother, artist Farid Abu Shakra, and includes an oral-history archive of the area and an information centre on contemporary Palestinian art.
