Saeed Ighbariya demolished his own home in the al-Ayoun neighbourhood of Umm al-Fahm before dawn on Tuesday 20 October, the second home in the neighbourhood taken down by its owners within days.
He was told late at night that police and bulldozers would come at dawn, and chose to do it himself rather than face costs that can reach hundreds of thousands of shekels.
Five days earlier, on 15 October, Mohammed Jamal Ibrahim Khalifa demolished the house he had built in the Suweisa neighbourhood for his coming marriage, after spending more than NIS 600,000 on it.
Ra'am has asked the Supreme Court and the attorney general to stop demolitions until the election.
