President Isaac Herzog said in a pre-recorded interview aired at a Yedioth Ahronoth conference that crime in Arab society is a disaster.
He said more than 1.3 million citizens were living under terror day and night, that police were doing their best but were beyond their capacity, and that Israel needs a much larger force.
The Times of Israel noted that the rise in killings coincided with Itamar Ben Gvir's term as minister responsible for police.
