The Haifa District Court sentenced Mohammed Abu Obeid to life for the aggravated murder of Rafe Harsha, whom he doused with a flammable liquid and set alight while he slept at home in Maisar in 2022.
Harsha got out of the house and his sons put out the flames; he died about two months later from complications of the burns. The court rejected the defence argument that the death was not caused by the attack.
Judges found the killing was planned and especially cruel, and unanimously imposed life and the maximum compensation.
