WFP cuts Gaza food aid by a third as funding runs short before winter
The agency now reaches 1.1 million people, down from 1.6 million a month earlier, and has halved rations for those it still serves. It says it needs $450 million to keep operating in Gaza and the West Bank until March.

The World Food Programme said funding shortfalls had forced it to cut food assistance in Gaza by about a third, leaving half a million people without its support.
WFP said on 19 October that families still receiving food parcels will get one instead of two, along with a smaller bag of wheat flour.
Daily hot meals supported by the agency fell from 250,000 to 150,000, and the value of cash assistance to 75,000 families was reduced.
The agency said WFP's 2026 funding for Palestine is less than half the level of previous years. It warned that modest recent gains in food security remain fragile as winter approaches.
About 1.4 million people, or 67% of Gaza's population, are in IPC Phase 3 or worse, down from 1.6 million at the end of 2025, according to WFP.
