Palestinian journalist Bushra al-Taweel, 33, has been held in solitary confinement for nearly 50 days, the Palestinian Prisoners' Society said on 18 October after a visit. She described repeated raids on her cell in which she was beaten and sprayed with tear gas, the latest two days before the visit.
She told the society that surveillance cameras watch her around the clock and that she suffers numbness in her hands from handcuffs, dryness of the eyes and skin, too little food, discoloured tap water and heavily soiled bedding. She had scabies before being moved to isolation.
She was moved from Damon Prison to solitary at Ramla without explanation. On 4 October she signed papers for a transfer back to Damon but was taken instead to an isolation wing at Ohaley Oz Prison in Beersheba, where she remains, according to the society.
