Moataz al-Atrash, a 21-year-old from Hebron, died at Ofer Prison in mid-September after almost a year in administrative detention, the Commission of Detainees' Affairs and the Prisoners' Society said. His family said they were told only that he had died in prison, and that legal records showed no health conditions before his arrest.

Haaretz reported that his death brought to 92 the number of Palestinian detainees who have died in Israeli prisons since the war began. A report by prisoner groups on 8 October said six had died since the start of 2026. Counts differ: Israeli authorities have identified fewer, and Haaretz earlier cited higher totals for security prisoners.

No cause of death has been made public. In August, the Israel Prison Service informed the detainees' commission of the death of Ihab Diab, 36, whom the commission believes died nearly two years earlier. Administrative detention allows Israel to hold people without charge or trial.
