Israeli authorities forced Fawaz al-Rajabi to demolish his family's 60-square-metre home in Beit Hanina, citing construction without a permit, WAFA reported.

The Wadi Hilweh Information Center said the family carried out the demolition on Sunday after receiving a written order, WAFA reported.

Authorities had earlier fined the family a total of 60,000 shekels for alleged unlicensed building.

Families often demolish their own homes to avoid the extra fees and penalties charged when municipal crews do it, according to OCHA, cited in the report.
