Settlers burn olive trees in Abu Falah and beat a Washington Post photographer
Levine suffered broken ribs and vertebrae and a nearly severed finger. A similar attack the same morning in Turmus Ayya ended with three cars burned.
About 80 settlers attacked olive pickers in Abu Falah, setting trees alight and throwing rocks; Washington Post photographer Heidi Levine was among those injured.
Some of the settlers carried gas canisters, France 24 reported. Israeli military jeeps arrived during the attack and soldiers fired tear gas; a Reuters photographer saw an armed settler fire a gun.
The army said troops fired warning shots and at one point fired towards a person they believed posed a threat.
Levine said she was pushed to the ground and kicked while wearing a flak jacket and helmet. AP later reported she suffered broken ribs and vertebrae, a nearly severed finger and stab-like wounds.
In nearby Turmus Ayya the same morning, settlers attacked farmers and burned three cars.
