An Israeli air strike on the Islamic University campus in Gaza City killed three security guards, hours after a drone strike there wounded seven female students.

A drone strike on the Islamic University in Gaza City on Sunday wounded seven female students with shrapnel, one of them seriously, Al Jazeera reported. A later air strike on the campus killed three security guards.

The university suspended academic and administrative work after the first attack. Al Jazeera's correspondent said most campus buildings were already in ruins before Sunday.

Elsewhere, two people were killed by shelling in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, according to Nasser Medical Complex, and further deaths were reported east of Deir al-Balah, on al-Rashid Street in the north and in the Sheikh Nasser area of Khan Younis.

The Israeli military did not comment on the campus strikes in the reports reviewed.
